Untold Story

About The Farmer & Farm

We did not inherit a functioning coffee farm, or implement traditional techniques for identifying and commercializing green beans—our story is different.

In Colombia, growers are being asked to deliver high-quality coffee that meets the highest standards required by the special coffee industry worldwide. The reality is that most of them do not have the proper equipment, knowledge, infrastructure, or resources to deliver this quality.

In 2011, we began our life’s project: a coffee farm that would challenge the status quo of the coffee industry. We looked at over 100 farms in the first year alone, searching only for the perfect “ecotopo” that would meet our strict criteria.

In November, we finally found a location suffused with the magic we were seeking and purchased an 18-hectare plot of land that had been a cattle farm for the past decade. It had everything we ever dreamed of: mountains, forests, rivers, and neighboring coffee growers.

Our coffee tells our story—a story of commitment to constant innovation, to spreading the word, to calling out to all who are as discerning and dedicated and different as we are; those who search insatiably for quality and environmental sustainability; and especially those who value the coffee grower’s well-being.

Along with our coffee, we harvested relationships that supported our purpose and helped to give a loud, clear voice to our project. We worked side-by-side with our partners: roasters and baristas from around the world who shared our view of the industry and decided to include our coffees in their stores.

By the end of 2016, thanks to overwhelming support from clients around the world, we set a record for the highest price ever paid in Colombia for green coffee. We won more than 15 regional and national championships. We even had our first shot at the World Barista Championship. Most importantly, however, we had proven that producing fine, Colombian coffees using a purpose-driven model that shares value with the neighboring community was possible.
